Need more cops, city council needs to wake up!

The first role of government is to keep us safe. The statistics are shocking. Shame on City Council for putting us in harms way.

We do need more police officers and/or programs to deal with criminal activities such as drug the drug trade.

#1 in homicides #2 in Drunk driving. WE NEED MORE POLICE

Badly needed , home break ins are on the rise ,no one is safe , six on the same street within a few weeks !! plus traffic is totally out of control

I HEARD TODAY RED DEER ACHIEVED #2 FOR DRUNK DRIVERS. APPARENTLY RED DEER HAS BUILT THE LARGEST RCMP DETACHMENT IN CANADA, ONLY FAIR WE HAVE MORE POLICE OFFICERS FOR IT. WE HAVE THE ROOM AND ENOUGH CRIMES TO KEEP THEM ALL BUSY!

I believe the issue of more officers on the street and visible is very important, but even more critical is to ensure all positions created are filled and maintained. I have heard that transfers between detachments often leave positions unstaffed in RD.

Get help for our existing members before they burnout! Also, drivers are getting away with too much, they dont care about the rules anymore.

I work downtown and have definitely seen an increase in undesirable characters over the last year. It's scary walking to my car after dark!

Hopefully Red Deer council will see how serious this is and that we need to get this crime under control.

Who here doesn't know anyone in RD who's had a theft over $1000? Property crime is crazy and personal crime is rising. Enough pet projects; we need basics like policing.

Once crime is under control in the Downtown then more business will want to locate there. And certain downtown property owners will be more willing to make Little Gaetz & Downtown,"the place to be", knowing their property will be respected, safe & secure.

red deer does need more police take this from a person who had lived on the wrong side of the law for a short timethey definatley need an increase and you are put on hold for twenty minutes to lodge a complaint tell me there very understaffed

As a person who works downtown, I can say I would feel a lot more comfortable walking to my car if there was a visible police presence. All the work done to make the sidewalks wider has just given us more space for loitering.

Thanks for the petition you state there is (54) front line officers of (131) who has control of the other (77) and why can they not be shifted to front line services. I don't think that is City Councils decision maybe tk OIC of the detachment.

I agree. The City is growing and the RCMP need to keep up with the growth. I agree that burnout of officers is a concern.

Lets get Red Deer cleaned up! We need these officers cleaning up crime. How many of you know that it is the police who ticket trailers on the street? Give tickets for snow removal? Parking violations?? How about CITY representation for city by-laws?

A principal role of government is the protection of our freedoms, rights and property. Hard to do if law enforcement is perpetually understaffed.

Could Mr. Buchanan's votes for anything police related be considered a conflict of interest, considering he owns X-Cops Inc?
