Airlift supplies into Burma

We the undersigned call for immediate airlift of emergency supplies such as food, water and medical supplies into Burma. We cannot wait for the military leadership to approve the airlifting of supplies. They have proved unresponsive to the desperate situation of the Burmese people. Each passing day brings us closer to a preventable human catastrophe of unimaginable scale. It is our moral responsibility to act now.

Emergency airlifting of supplies, with or without the permission of the sitting government, is in accordance with the "right to intervene" passed by UN General Assembly in the 1990s. It is further supported by the "responsibility to protect" victims of crimes against humanity. The gross negligence of the Burmese leadership is such a crime.

Please begin airlifts of emergency supplies for the Burmese people immediately. It is a matter of life and death.
